We are looking for a Senior Sales Engineer who combines technical expertise with commercial acumen to drive our growth and deployments. In this role, you will be the key technical liaison between Moonwatt and our customers - Independent Power Producers, utilities, EPCs, and developers - helping them integrate our advanced energy storage and inverter solutions into solar+storage grid-scale projects.
You will shape the technical narrative of Moonwatt’s unique offering, ensuring our solutions meet customer needs and market requirements, and play a pivotal role in scaling our impact in the energy storage industry.
⚡ What You’ll Do
- Serve as the primary technical point of contact for customers and partners throughout the sales cycle, from inception to deal closing.
- Develop deep understanding of customer requirements, grid codes, and project specifications to craft compelling technical proposals and system architectures.
- Support pre-sales and post-sales activities: technical presentations, proposal development, technical contract negotiations.
- Scope and size battery and inverter solutions, prepare system configurations, and optimize architectures to customer’s requirements.
- Lead and document technical due diligence, respond to RFPs, and own the technical accuracy of project bids and commercial offers.
- Collaborate with engineering, product development, and business development teams to align customer needs with product roadmap.
- Author white papers, build technical and economical analysis to highlight the value of Moonwatt differentiated approach bring to various customers, positioning Moonwatt as a thought leader in grid-scale storage.
- Represent Moonwatt at trade shows, conferences, and industry forums as a technical subject matter expert.
Your profile
✅ Must-Have Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy, or related technical field.
- 5+ years of experience in technical sales, applications engineering, or solution engineering in the energy, power, or energy storage sectors.
- Strong knowledge of grid-tied battery storage, solar projects, and inverter-based systems.
- Proven ability to interpret electrical schematics, single-line diagrams, and technical specifications.
- Solid understanding of energy storage systems standards (IEC/UL/ /NFPA), and grid code requirements.
- Experience of navigating complex procurement processes, and support technical RFP responses.
- Excellent technical communication and customer-facing skills, able to explain complex systems in clear, compelling terms.
- Comfortable with engineering modelling tools and sizing calculations for BESS/solar projects.
- Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally with commercial and engineering teams, as well as external clients.
- Willingness and ability to travel 30% of the time.
- Fluent English (written and spoken) is essential.
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous work with utility clients and/or C&I clients on solar + storage hybrid projects.
- Experience with design, construction, commissioning and / or operation of MW-scale battery systems.
- Familiarity with project finance, performance guarantees, and the bankability requirements of renewables & storage assets.
Knowledge of additional languages is highly valued, particularly Dutch, German, and/or Spanish.
